Wish Adds Chris Pine as King Magnifico as Disney Reveals New Footage at CinemaCon 2023

At CinemaCon 2023, Disney revealed a new clip and a snippet of a song from its upcoming film Wish alongside the announcement that Chris Pine has joined the cast as King Magnifico.

Pine's King Magnifico is the ruler of the Kingdom of Rosas and will join Ariana DeBose's Asha in the film. Wish is set to star two heroines, and Asha – a 17-year-old driven optimist and leader in the making – is one of them.

Throughout her journey, Asha will have to team up with Star, a cosmic force and boundless ball of pure energy and possibly chaos, to stop one of the greatest threats the universe has seen.

According to Disney, Wish "celebrates the legacy of Walt Disney's vision," and also looks to explore "how the iconic wishing star came to be." The film is directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn and will be released in theaters in November 2023.

When it does arrive in theaters, it will do so with an art style that is a combination of Disney's original watercolor animation and the more CG focus it has in its modern films.

We don't know a ton more about Wish, but it was previously confirmed that Alan Tudyk will voice a goat named Valentino in the film and that it will feature all new songs from Grammy-nominated artist Julia Michaels.
