The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Trailer

What Is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

First announced with a teaser trailer at E3 2019 (RIP), Tears of the Kingdom is a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. To say expectations are high would be underselling it. Many fans agree that BotW is one of — if not the — best games ever made. Nintendo has been playing its cards close to the vest, mostly just showing Link's new abilities in a gameplay reveal last month.

Tears of the Kingdom takes place in the same version of Hyrule as Breath of the Wild. You can see similar landmarks in the new footage. This time around, though, a bunch of islands are floating in the sky, and Link can go up to them and skydive back down. There's also an enormous underground area.

The controversial weapon durability is back, and Link's new abilities include rewinding time on an object. So if a platform falls from the sky world, for instance, Link can hop on it and reverse its time to make it float back up, carrying him like an elevator to the clouds.
